Interorbital Systems is looking for engineers, technicians, and innovative business personnel who love space and rockets. Current IOS technical team members are highly motivated engineers and technicians, selected for their experience and ability to do not only engineering design, but also for their know-how in prototyping new hardware. In addition to engineering capabilities, ideal candidates will possess hands-on skills in machining, composites, applied electronics, and other 'maker' abilities. We are also seeking creative candidates with business degrees and/or experience (ideally space-related) in fund-raising, government proposal writing, and marketing.


Current Positions

Aerospace Engineer

Location: Mojave, CA

Minimum Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree

Applicants must have completed a 4-year degree in one of the following fields: Engineering (any), Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science. Employees may undertake a wide range of tasks according to their skills and company needs, including: avionics, composite design, engine design, aerodynamics analysis, systems design, software implementation. Please indicate on application your area of interest. Applicants should also have some experience with manufacturing techniques and hands-on work. All employees are also required to support rocket test and launch site activities.


Spacecraft Technician/Fabricator

Location: Mojave, CA

Minimum Degree Requirement: High school diploma

Must have experience with composite layup, including fabric and resin preparation. Pressure vessel layup experience is preferred but not required. Applicant must be willing to learn and help develop new composite manufacturing procedures. Applicant should also have some metalworking experience including metal machining and welding. MIG welding experience required with TIG welding experience a plus. The employees are also be required to support rocket test and launch site activities.


Internship

Location: Mojave, CA

Minimum Degree Requirement: Enrolled in undergraduate/graduate studies

Applicant must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university in one of the following disciplines: Engineering (any), Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science. Some ability to work with industrial manufacturing equipment (mill, lathe, etc.) is required. Computer skills (programming, fluency with Microsoft Office) are also required. Previous work experience is a plus. Internships may vary in length and start date as requested, but must have a minimum duration of 10 weeks.
